Refractions Research Successfully Completes First Milestone of Data Validation Toolkit
Refractions Research is pleased to announce the ongoing accomplishments of the Data Validation Toolkit. The Data Validation Toolkit is a year long research and development project to develop tools for spatial data quality control. Refractions Research acknowledges the support of GeoInnovations with this project.
The recently completed first Milestone has defined the Refractions validation technology, and a series of extensions to the GeoServer Web Feature Server. GeoServer provides an OpenGIS™ standard Web Feature Server interface to backend relational databases.
Current activity is focused on the popular Geotools2 open source GIS application toolkit. The Geotools2 toolkit has recently released a public beta version. Refractions Research has been involved with the addition of strong-transaction support to the backend relational database access.
"Milestone Two will represent an exciting phase of development", says Jody Garnett, Senior Programmer. "The addition of spatial business rules to the GeoServer Web Feature Server provides a great platform for quality control."
GeoInnovations is a GeoConnections strategy to promote Canadian technology development. GeoConnections is a program of the Canadian federal government.
