Refractions Joins the Open Geospatial Consortium
Refractions Research officially joined the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) as an Associate Member. OGC is a non-profit, international, voluntary consensus standards organization that is leading the development of standards for geospatial and location based services. Refractions can now participate in the design and development of new OGC standards as well as the refinement of current standards. This will allow Refractions to fully represent our clients' needs as they consider using OGC standards to meet their business needs.
Refractions is participating in the OWS-3 initiative which started in April and is designed to further OGC's overall interoperability design and future plans. Refractions specifically will be adding a GeoVideo client into our existing uDig application to further the OGC services that uDig can interoperate with. The GeoVideo client will be able to connect to live video sensors and display the video in real-time. At the same time, it will be able to display other information about the sensor such as location, direction, and speed (if it is moving) in a typical GIS map window.
